BEEF FOR THE NAVY
*' TO HELP DOMINION PRODUCERS Interviewed by a Standard representative, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., mentioned that he had depatched the following letter to the Prime Minister : "Re purchase of beef for the British Navy: It has been suggested to me that it might be a good proposal to enreavour to induce the Admiralty to fix a standard price of say 3d per lb f.o.b. for beef to begin with, and divid its order between, the meat producing Dominions. This would be in the interests of all concerned and would save competition in the matter of quoting prices from the different ports of the Empire. Do you think it would bo possible for the Government to make such a proposal? It would be a boon to the farming community if it were adopted." In reply Mr Massey has informed Mr Nash that the proposal is quite- all right, and further that he will be glad to give it every consideration. 1 Meanwhile, further developments in with the matter aro awaited with interest.
