Mr McMahon, President of the Employers' Federation, has offered as a solution of the problem of unemployment of returned soldeirs a suggestion that every employer should take back into his service tho returned men who were with him before the war. ' RAISING FUNDS FOR WORKS. (Received May 19, 10 ,a.m.) Sydney,. May 19. Premier. Fuller has acceded to a request by a' deputation of suburban Mayors and Presidents of Shire Councils that tho Government should subsidise by loan on a £ for £ basis, the sum of £154,000, which tho local authorities intimated they were prepared to spend in providing work for returned soldiers. A demonstration of unemployed is being held to-day to demand that the Government shall pay tho living wage or a. subsistence wage until they find work.
