SHOCKS IN BAY OF PLENTY
AVHITE ISLAND VERY ACTIVE. A sharp eartliquako was felt throughout the AVhakatano district trict at 7.40 p.m. on Saturday. It followed by intermittent shakes through the night. Residents on the Rangataiki apparently felt shakes -more severe than the people of AVhakatano. Each shake was preceded by a heavy rumble. The first sounded like a landslide on a rocky hillside. The direction of the earthquake seemed to be from north-east in a line with AVhite* Island, w liich was very active this morning. AVhalo Island is also showing a little activity—Auckland Herald.
