HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 13th inst., London:— Meat.—Trade generally has been dull and prices slightly declined. A little better tone in the market at end of the week. Present quotations are:— N.Z. mutton: Lightweight 7£d to Bjj-d; medium 7Jd to 7^d; heavyweight 6id to 62-d. Ewes Cid. Lamb.—Best quality lightweight Hid, heavy weight to lid, ordinary second class quality lOd to 10id. Patagonian lamb is now on the market at Od and 9Jd per lb. Chilled Beef.—Hinds 7d, fores 4d. N.Z. beef.—Ox hinds 4d, fores 23d, with little demand. Butter.—Market weaker owing to reduction of prices of Danish, which on account of poorer Continent demand is in larger supply and is at present offering at about 170 s per cwt. f.o.b. Present quotations are:

New Zealand (salted) 166 s to 172 s per cwt (Is 5-Jd to Is 6Jd per lb). New Zealand (unsalted) 166 s to 170 s (Is 52-d to Is 6Jd per lb). Danish 176 s to 180 s per cwt (Is 6fd to Is 7id per lb). - Cheese.—Trade show. Official quotations aare—

New Zealand.—Coloured 82s to 84s per cwt (Bijd to 9d per lb), exceptional S6s per cwt (9Jd per lb), white 72s to 74s per cwt (7£d to Bc] 4>er lb, exceptional 76s per cwt (Bid per lb. Wool.—Sales continue with keen competition between Home and Continental buyers. Encouraging feature is extension of demand downwards from merinos and fine crossbred to medium and low descriptions. Crossbreds now stand at about 15 per cent above closing rates last series.
