CANTERBURY MARKETS. (Per Trass Association.) Christchurch, May 12. Oats are still showing a weakening tendency. - Farmers are offering practically nothing, and ' any business doing is restricted to merchants. Quotations are from 2s Gd to 2s 7d for A grade Gartons at country stations, and 2s 2d to 2s 4d for B’s. Algerians, which have been moving to some extent, 2s to.2s 4d. Cocksfoot is firm. Sales of dressed have been made at B}d per . lb, equal to about sjd per lb on an average to farmers. Undressed cowgrass is in firm inquiry at lOd to 12d. Some sales of particularly good farmers’ undressed have taken place at over the latter figure. Dressed cowgrass has been traded at 135 s per cwt (Is 25d per lb). Peas aro firm tip to 8s at country stations. White clover is quoted at from Is 3d to Is sd. Potatoes have eased, and sales have actually taken place at 77s Gd f.o.b, South Island, a shade loss than £3 to farmers. The North Otago production is moving southwards, the southern crop being disappointing; so that a long view of the position is that an improvement may take place later. At the moment quotations aie from £2 17s Gd to £3 at country stations. Fowl feed lias receded in price, and is now quoted at 4s Gd to 4s 9d f.o.b. South Island.

FEILDING SALE. Abraham and Williams report on Feilding sale: A fair yarding of sheep met with a keen demand, any good lambs or wethers were eagerly sought after. Fat sheep came forward in limited numbers and sold freely. A large entry of dairy stock sold well, there being a good demand right through for veaner heifers. Store cattle sold at late rates.
