FEILDING R.S.A.

ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. DISCUSSION ON UNEMPLOYMENT...'.,'.. The Feilding R.S.A. annual meet- - ing was held last night, with a big attendance. THE ANNUAL REPORT. At the last annual meeting of the Feilding R.S.A. -an effort was made to re-organise the local association. A committee was elected, with Dr. Cameron as president. A _splendid beginning was made by acquiring the lease of a social room, but unfortunately a fire broke out. on the pre-' mises which destroyed the whole building, including all the books of" records belonging to the Society.. During the past year 137 members paid their subscriptions, of which ?uite a number were afterwards transerred to other associations, having left the district. Although the activities of your committee have not been of a* strenuous character, yet good work has been done. A Re-union Dinner, with Sir An-' drew Russell as chief guest, was held during the year. A special general meeting was. held, and members decided to-donate £IOO to the Feilding War Memorial out of the R.S.A. funds. Despite the bad weather conditions the Anzac parade and service at St. John's Church were well attended, and thanks are due to the Rev. Petrie and the Salvation Army band for their efforts. A special feature of this year's Anzac Day was the luncheon provided by Mrs Cameron and her lady helpers, which was well attended and appreciated by all present. Feilding, in line with other parts of the Dominion took a share in the sale of poppies. Seeing that nearly 2000 were sold shows that the teachers of the schools in the district did good work. • The ladies who sold the poppies, also Chappell Bros, and other helpers, deserve our thanks. The financial position, as disclosed in the balance-sheet, shows that after meeting our liabilities the association' is in a sound financial position. The future of the local R.S.A. rests with the members generally. There are still problems, namelv unemployment, patriotic funds, and other matters, which need our 'earnest attention. Our thanks are due to the local press which has always treated us well. In conclusion, the committee wishes to thank all the members for their loyal support. The President (Dr. Cameron) in moving ■ the adoption of the report and balance sheet, stated that up to last week he was in doubt whether the local association should be carried on, but having seen the splendid response to the Anzac Service, and the good number at the meeting, he was satisfied that good work could be done in the future.
