One hundred and seventy American marines from the Huron have arrived to protest the American Legation. The British Legation guard is also being strengthened. Thero is little hope of averting trouble between the belligerent Chine Tactions, although efforts at mediation continue. The largest oxodus of tourists from the city is occurring. Three; thousand of General Wu I'ei En's soldiers arc reported to be marching on I'ekin.
