COUNCILLORS EVICTED.

(Per Press Association.)

Auckland, October 28. At a meoting of the City Council to-night the resignations of Messrs A P. Entrican and E. H. Davis were received aud adopted. The resignations are the outcome of the purchase by these councillors of sections owned by tho Council in Anzac Avenue. It was ruled by the Audit Department that this was in contravention of. the Municipal Corporations Act, and made Messrs Entrican and Davis eligible to sit as members of the Council. In the case of Mr Davis it is an interesting point that the purchase of the section in his name was made by his attorneys during his absence on a visit to England. Mr Davis is still away, and his resignation was received by cablegram.
