Mr B. N. Sandilands was last night elected to the Show Committee in the place of Mr F. F. Haggitt (resigned.)
Lieut. W. R. Fell, R.N. (son of Dr. Fell, of Wellington), has been appointed to the Dolphin for duty with submarines.
The death has occurred of another of the oldest identities of Napier, Mr Samuel Oarnell in his 89th year. He came to New Zealand 60 years ago, living most of the time in Napier. Ho was a photogropher. He entered politics, b/ung the first Liberal to represent Napier, in the 90 r s.
M.r G. T. Murray, 'who has been district engineer in charge of the Auckland Public Works district for t'ho last four years, has bepn promoted to the position of inspecting engineer to the department, with headquarters at Wellington.
Mr President O. McElroy last night referred to the death of Captain Campbell, one of the sturdy pioneers who bad helped to build up this younrr country, a man who was llionoured by all, and one of the oldest members of the A. and P. Association. He proposed that the Committee extend its deep sympathy to the widow and members of the family. The motion was seconded by MiReid and carried in silence.
