Interesting Enterprise. .""'■( That much can be achieved Avith the right institution in the hands, of en-, thusiasfcic and capable men is exempli-t lied in the case of the Feilding and District Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association. After conducting a most successful initial championship sports meeting iii March last,.and assisting the Mayor's committee in" .entertaining the children on the-day ot the visit of the Prince of Wales, the Association is 'now (organising an elocutionary and musical competition for the children of the affiliated schools. This enterprise should prove not only of great educational value to the competitors, but also give the members .of the Association-and the general public an interesting two days' progratiTino. Still More Competitions. .. The Association is also organising a football tournament for the, school boys, to be held in Feilding at tho latter end of this month. Further, an endeavour is being made to start hockey competitions in tho schools. With'the approach of summer, school cricket will be undertaken, and a sAvimmiug carnival is on tho Association's programme. These various programmes will all help the youngsters to practise the splendid motto given to the children of Ncav Zealand by tlie Prince of Wales: "Play for the side, and play the game." Getting to Chicago. We remember Sir Harry Atkinson telling a story in tho House when he was in Opposition, apropos of the then Government, about the man for Chicago, Avhich seems specially applicable to Premier Massey jusb iioav. It was on an American railway, and passengers wore interested in the fact that at every station Avhere the train stopped a disreputable-looking passenger ivas hustled off the train by the guard, a parting kick being administered as an additional persuasive. Yet lie returned to the train. This happened so often that someone inquired where the victim ivas going to. "Waal, stranger," he replied, "I am going to Chicago, if my pants.hold out!" Mr Massey's political pants are certainly holding out, but tho frequency of the kicks he has been getting from coalminers, jockeys, railwaymen, postal officials, and others makes ono fear for the result ff his arrival at. his destination is long delayed. Trotsky and Lenin. For tlio seventh timo in four years tragedy is reported to have OA r ertaken •the evil genii of Russia —Lenin and Trotsky. Hitherto, unfortunately, these reports of the ending of the infamous careers of tho most blood-lust-ful leaders in history have been grossly exaggerated. But the latest agrees with all the others -now, as - always, it is reported that Trotsky has been, killed'and Lenin is in flight. If only some bullet could (md its billet in the black heart of Lenin, there would be hope for Russia. A cable message in April last stated: After the Bolshevik Party Congress closed in Moscow, a number of speeches ivere made in honour of Lenin's 50th birthday. Kalinin, Radek. Kainenefl'. Buklmrin nnd other Bolshevik leaders spoke in the Avarmcst terms of his genius as a politician, aud acclaimed him "the greatest Marxist—the German model be it noted. And now, only a few Aveeks later, the acclaimed god and hero is

using liis feet of clay to get as far from Moscoa-v as did Napoleon's army. It reads too good to be true.
