TRAMWAY STRIKE.
A FOOLISH EXCUSE MADE
(Per Prea* Aseociation.J Auckland, June 8. The terms of the settlement of the *ramw«iy strike provide that the men Bhall return to work immediately. They will receive no pay for the time lost. They agree to perform all trani,way work, including race tramc, wnicn may he allotted them in futuie. Their representative expressed regret for their action. He stated that the strike arose through the uniortunate misunderstanding of a communication between Wellington and Auckland, which precipitated tlie crisis before it could be averted.
