HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE
THE MONTHLY MEETING. Feilding District High School Committee met last nig Jit. Present: Mr H. Mcmtyre (chairman), Mrs Daa- - ragh, Messrs J. Campbell (secretary), Bridge, Slielton A Sraithers, and J. E. Barltrop. Mrs Stewart sent an apology. Th» chairman reported on the closing of the school on account or the epidemic of mild influenza. It was hoped to re-open on Monday next. It was also reported by the chairman that the Boa.rd was [haying new shelter sheds erected. The cost was. to be about £160, considerably more than the usual amount expended for such work. The Secretary or the Board had asked if the Committee would follow the example of Taihape, and make a contribution towards this sum. H© (the chairman) had consulted as many members of tke Committee as he could, and they agreed to' a. contribution from the Committee of £25.—Action confirmed.
The Secretary reported that the carpenters were at work on th© school building, and improvements were being made. ■'■The Secretary' of . the Wanganui Education Board notified that Misses M. C. Walton and Oliver would take up duties at the school from June I.' Mr J. E. Barltrop was appointed to represent the Committee on. the Technical School Committee. A letter from the Board notified that Mr F.Remyard, of the Haverstock Central School, London, !had been' appointed first assistant in the secondary' I 'department of the school, and Mr Remyard was on his way to New Zealand on the Arawa.Messrs Smithers and Bridge were re-appointed Visiting Commrttee for the month. ,
