LUGGAGE LIFTING.
The piactioc of stealing luggage is becoming mcronsingty common in Wellington. The other day a passenger who arrived Irom the South by the Mnraroa handed his luggage over to a licensed porter, instructing him to leave it at. a certain address in the city. A few minutes later si svcll-dre-sed 'individual addressed the porter and asked him if he had certain fug-gage tor a Mr Blank. On being aitsssercd in the athrmative, tho speaker asked the porter to leave it at the Hotel, us the owner had decided (o go on by train. The putter acquiesced. All hour later the svelltp])ointed individual culled at the hotel, asked it any luggage had been bit for a .Mr Blank, and was iul'ormed that if had, and there svas so much to pay. The carrier's fee svas paid, the luggage taken by the stranger, and tin- owner has been left lamenting.
