THE MONTHLY MEETING. The regular monthly meeting of the Oroua County Council is being held to-day. CORRESPONDENCE. From J. From Nathan and Co., Ltd., asking permission to form road outlet at the back of Jhinnythorpe Glaxo Factory.

From J. Currie. enclosing voluntary contribution of £100 towards completion of Hackett's road.

From llangitikci County Council, stating that the contract for building Onepuhi bridge had been lot, and tho estimated amount required from the Council is £1000. From Registrar Native Land Court, stating that a list of nominated owners of the subdivisions in JRcu lieu Blocks had been prepared. ' From Pahnerston North Farmers' Union, stating that delegates of 21 branches unanimously resolved to endorse remit advocating the erection of a bridge over tho Manawatu river at Hokowhitu.

From Returning Officer, stating that as tho number of nominations does not exceed the requirements, there will bo no contest for representation on tho Foxton and Wellington Harbour Boards.

From Palmorstoii North and Charitable Aid Board, stating Council's liability for maintenance and charitable aid expenditure is £1100 11s Bd, and for capital expenditure £80 16s. From same, forwarding copy of arrangement suggested by Dr. Whitaker. in case of return Of epidemic. From Department of Internal Affairs, notification respecting celebration of commemoration of Anzac Day. From Department of Internal Affairs, enclosing form of application for subsidy- on expenditure on Peaco celebrations. From "Woodville County Council, urging the holding of special conference to consider the best method of making good roads and financing tho same. • From Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, circular advocating Government control of main arterial roads. From Minister of Public Works, circular suggesting that it would be betxev for local bodies to make their own chase motor lorries, arrangements if tliey desire to purFrom Collingwood County Council, circular re Puponga coal mine. ENGINEER'S REPORT.

Mangaone Riding.—No work lias been done in this riding. Itangitawa Hiding.—Very little ' work has been done beyond the clear- ' ing of watertables on the hills in the vicinity of Halconibe. The work of gravelling the Tokorangi road' has been comenccd. It will be necessary to appoint a permanent roadman lor tliis riding. j Kaumanga Hiding.—The work oi : gravelling Tokorangi road is proceeding satisfactorily. Together with Cr. Morrison, I inspected the llen-j-u road, and as nothing in the way of formation can bo done out of loan moneys until next spring, I would suggest that the swampy portion of this road be drained. This would enable a start to be made on this work as soon as the mont-y is available. " i Makino Hiding.—Mackay's line lias been patched with gravel, and ihe watertablcs on Junction and Mauga- ' one roads have been attended to. Dtherwiso very little work has been done in this riding. !
