Feilding Star, Oroua and Kiwitea Counties' Gazette. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 1918. THE INTERNED GERMANS.

One phase of the coming armistice with Germany is of prime importance to New Zealand: What will then be done wtih those convicted enemies in our midst who have been and aro noAV interned on islands in Auckland and Wellington harbours? Will they be released as part of the celebrations in con aection with peace ? We sincerely hope not. Are they to be allowed to go back to our several cities and to the Pacific Islands to pick up the strings of trade and to be enabled to peacefully penetrate our commercial life once more ? We trust not. Members of Prrliamont should see to this as a matter of urgency before it is too late. Every interned German should be held in durance until it is convenient to, repatriate him to his Beloved Fatherland, for which he intrigued. A subscriber of the Star re- j siding in our back country desires

us to point out to the powers that be how dangerous it will be if tho dangerous Q-ormans amongst the i.ito-iiod avo released, with the liberty to go where they will. The people will not omploy these Huns, who will then work their way into tho backhlocks and wreak thoir pont-up feelings upon the unprotected farmers and their families. One such tragedy occurred some time ago. This possible clanger should he eliminated by tho repatriation of all tho interned and other suspects.
