WON ALLIES AND THE WAR

(Received November 7, 9.30 a.m.)

Paris, November 6,

Premier Clemenceau announced in the Chamber of Deputies the terms of the Austrian armistice amid scenes of enthusiasm.

Referring to the terms of an armistice with Germany, he aaid: "We must show the world that we merit the peace we are obtaining and that no individual ally could have won." He paid special homage to Great Britain, and, amidst great cheering, said: "We have made allies of our ancient enemies ,the English. We have won them well, especially after seeing the prodigies they have accomplished on the battle field. The war may last a bit longer, but we have already won it."
