A wireless German official message says: The artillery duel is intense on several sectors'in Flanders and Artois. AYe repulsed thrusts eastward of 'Nieuport and south-east of Ypres, near Hulluch. '

Southward of the Searpe artillery activity is intense. On the west bank of the'Meuse our stbrmers recaptured trenches at Hill 304 lost on the Bth inst. The enemy lost 19 aeroplanes.

Fighting activity is lively' near Smorgon, also at' Sohtchara, westward of Lucjc. • " There have been futile Rsusian attacks at several places oj'i the Lomnica line, where the Archduke Joseph and General Mackensen repulsed s«iver ral advances.

An English attack near Lombart zyde broke down.

A\ r e occupied and held again coun-ter-attacks positions in the trenches southward of Boissonlains, north of Rheinis.

AYe frustrated an attempted thrust south-west of Sommepy.

AYe brought down 21 airmen. Lively fighting continues near Dvinsk and Smorgon. There is artillery activity in the Brzezany sector. Rain is restricting fighting south of the Dneister.
