AND HIS CO-DELEGATE.
THEIR WELCOME HOME
TVEH PBKfiS 4B.ROCIATION.] Wellington, Juno 27. Premier Massey and Sir Joseph Ward were accorded a civic reception to-day by the Mayor and citizens. ; Mr". Massov slated that they had j negotiated wilh the Imperial Government fo rthp produce it required from | Now Zealand. Tlie position taken up| was that, while the producers were entitled to a fair profit, they did not desire to extract the last farthing from the Imperial Government. They had been able to arrange a fair price for wool and meat : and next in order oi importance came cheese, hides and skins. The Imperial Conference had dealt with the subject of preference. Our products previously had gone into Britain free, hut so had the products of enemy countries. There would he a change" in that respect in the future. The Premier declared (amid hearty applause) Germany could not have her colonial possessions restored. Sir Joseph Ward said that Britain had raised an army of four millions, and the enemy, had discovered that tho greatest factor in the war was Britain. The strongtli of the British Isles was made more invulnerable than before by combination with the Overseas Dominions. Then there was the last combination with the United States, which made it impossible for the Central Powers to hope for vieI torv.
