It is announced that scientists at tho University of California have discovered the substance that produces growth in the human body. Tethclin is tho name given to it, and it is located in the pituitary body at the baso of the brain. By retarding or accelerating its functions, it may bo possible, according to the scientists, to control the stature of human boings. Dr. T. E. Robertson, professor of bio-chemistry, said he had succeeded in isolating tethelin, and that he believed it was the first time in the history of biological science that it had been done. Tho ancients believed it to be tho seat of the soul, investigations point to its being concerned in regulating and coordinating the growth of various parts of the body.
