'I'll* comparison/ becomes a remarkable testimony to the strength of British credit when it is recalled that Consols bear only 2J per cent, intorest, and that the market isaio loaigea- protected by a ""minimum." New York gives n further indication of tho low state of German credit. The exchange rate in normal times was 95J dollars, for. 400 marks; it is now 77J dollars,-,showing a decline of nearly VJ per cent.
