Anplied art classes, including wood carving, metal work, enamelling, design, and leather embossing commence on Wednesday next, 10th inst. The new instructor, Mr Evelyn Gibson, comes direct: from the art schools of London, when- he has made a special study of this work. The motor class meets at Messrs Yvaekrill and Stewart's garage on Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. The first aid aud home nursing classes meet on Thursday evening. Those wishing to take up' the electric, wiremen's course meet on AYednosday evening.

The Salvation Army ha s decided to erect a large marquee at the Territorial rami) which opens at Mnrton this week. Brigadier Iloare will be iv charge, with an assistant.

The Feilding Brass Band gave a well-selected programme of music in the Hotunda on Saturday night. The baud was not up to full strength numerically, but the pieces went well throughout, and the large crowd of listeners evidently thoroughly appreciated the bill of fare.
