Sir Cecil Spring-Rice, British Ambassador, conferred with State officials concerning the seizure of American copper on neutral vessels bound for neutral ports on the assumption that it was destined for Krupp's, The Ambassador intimated that Britain would indemnify the owners, and also would not interfere., with American shipments'of foodstuffs to Holland. President Wilson in.fortn.ed inquirers that Britain had adopted a meet friendly attitude regarding possible non-neutral shipments, and that undoubtedly a satisfactory arrangement would be reached.
