• NOTES' FROM THE CITY. . The stock and share market has been particularly quiet during the month,"an evidence of the local lightness of money until the 31st of tlie I month. After this there should be some improvement in the investment market, and .a possible appreciation of values of some of the favourite stocks. Possibly the banks may, say at the beginning or middle of next month, show a disposition to extend* to further accomodation at slightly lower than ruling rates, and in directions that were rather feeling the need of a little more money than has been availabl eof late. Hemp.—The London hemp market is slightly weaker. Dairy Produced—The cheese "market in London is well maintained, and the improved prices are mainly due to the falling off in Canadian supplies. Butter is decidedly weak, but makers in this country are keeping values at a high level compared I with overseas markets. Wool. — Wool growers have no reason whatever to complain of prices realised at the local sales here on Friday, when a general clearing up of all wool .to hand, some inferior in quality, and most of it back country and late shorn wool: —Poet.
