Mr E. Goodbehere, Feikling's Mayor, who is at present at Lake la-upo on a health visit, expects to return next week. Private letters received from his Worship state that he hoped for an improved state of health by tho date o,f his return.

THE NEW DIRECTOR FOR THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

The Education Board has received a cablegram from Mr 0. A. Banner, of New South Wales, accepting the position of Director of the FeildiimTechnical School. Mr Banner is under thirty years of age and has had a splendid scholastic career, his speciality being scientific agriculture. He received his elementary and secondary training in the public schools of New South Wales and the Teachers' Training College. He also took a course at the finest agricultural college in Australasia—Hawkesbury college—and was for some time instructor there. The Director (Mr Potts) who is looked upon as one of the ablest and most capable educationists in the Southern Hemisphere, speaks in ihe highest terms of MiBanner. At present he is instructor of science for the New South Wales Education Department. WJiiJe in "Australia recently, Mr Grant, the Wanganui Board agricultural instructor, made inquiries about Mr Banner, and came to the conclusion that he would he a great acquisition to our district. The new director will succeed Mr L. J. Watkin, who takes up the position of art master in the primary schools of the district, in addition to his ordinary art work.
