Last night's_ summary and forecast by the Govoiimicnt Meteorologist is as follows: — The baromoter rose everywhere on Wednesday night, but shows a fall in. tho South'this afternoon. Westerly and southerly winds have predominate?!. Fair to cloudy weather has prevailed, with showers on tho West Coast and Southern districts. Present indications aro for high westerly winds, generally cloudy and unsettled weather, with' rain probable, especially on tho West Coast and the South Island. The barometer is very unsteady, and a low pressure area is likely to pass in tho South about, Monday next.
