To the Electors of Feilding Borough, Kiwitea, Oroua, Pohangina, Manawatu, and Kairanga Counties. J ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— -*-* On Wednesday, April 26, you Avill be asked to vote for two candidates for the vacant seats on the Wellington Harbour Board. At a conference of local bodies, held on March 31, I was selected as a candidate for one of the vacancies; it being felt that, as Palmerston North ivas assured of one seat, it was fair and reasonable that Feilding and the Counties around it should be represented by a resident in the district. I am therefore emboldened to solicit your votes on the polling day. It is important that the country districts should be represented on tho Board, as the recently increased wharfage charges add an appreciable amount to the cost of heavy goods consumed in the country, and should be reduced at the earliest possible moment, while it is not improbable that before long an attempt may be made to extend the rating area for the Board as far north as the Oroua or Rangitikei. It is, therefore, desirable that all country electors should record their votes on the polling day. In soliciting your support, it is hardly necessary for me to say that I have seen a good deal of service on local bodies in this district, and have had a long and extensive connection with business and financial affairs. As a large importer and considerable owner of town and country property, I am directly concerned in preventing tihe infliction of burdensome wharfage charges, or the imposition of rates on country lands to provide for the upkeep of the Wellington harbour; while, if elected, I shall strongly oppose extravagance or unnecessary borroAving. I am largely interested in the sheep farming industry, and consequently, if elected, may be depended upon to see that the primary producers, who at present have no representative upon the Board, shall have their interests carefully attended to. Should you do me the honour to elect me, I shall endeavour to discharge my duties faithfully as a representative of the whole district. I have the honour to remain Your obedient servant, JOHN G. COBBE. Feilding, April 13, 1911. WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD. ANNUAL MEETINGS OF HOUSEHOLDERS.
