A number of the Sydney and New Zealand passengers by the steamer Eastern arrived overland from Brisbane. The New Zealanders include Mr and Mrs L. They were compelled to leave the bulk of their luggage aboard the stranded steamer, the lighters being unable to approach. The latest report states that the cargo is being jettisoned.
