SHOOTING.
MANCHESTER RIFLES BEAT PALMERSTON. A match was fired on Saturday, on the local range, between teams representing the Manchester Rifles and Palmerston North Rifles, the form©r winning by the substantial majority of 84 points. Capt. Barltrop and Pvt. Mayhew, of the local corps, were top scorers for the day, the latter being counted out for pride of place. Refreshments were provided on the ground. Conditions were seven shots at each range. Scores:—
The third competition for belts will be fired on Wednesday and Saturday, February 1 and 3. Ranges 500 and 600 yards.
