Dickson, secretary of tlic above, lias supplied us with the following information, which may prove of interest to anglers:— Since 3Lay 9, 1909, to October 5. IDIO, 210.000 trout Try have been purchased by the Society and liberated in the various streams and rivers .throughout the district. Cf the 21.0 - 000 fry, 110,0(10 were brown and the balance rainbow. During the same period 50,000 rainbow yearlings and a similar -number of brown yearlings were distributed in the rivers and streams which it was thought most sutiable for them. The number put in the respective streams are as un-der-.--Fry: Oroua 40,000 brown, 20,----000 rainbow; Kiwitea, 15,000 brown, 5000 rainbow; Pohangina, 11,000 brown, 10,000 rainbow; Coal Creek, 12,000 brown 10,000 rainbow; Rangitikei, 14,000 brown, GOOO rainbow; Mangaonc 11,000 brown, 4000 rainbow; Ma kino 4000 brown, 1000 rainbow; Pouragnaki, 700Q brown; Kawatau, 10,000 brown; Mangakokiki 5000 brown; Dickson's Creek, 5000 brown; Vile's Creek, 5000 brown ; Mungawairariki, 6000 brown. Yearlings: Oroua 15 000 brown, 20,000 rainbow; Kiwitea, 5000 brown, 3000 rainbow; Pohangina, 4000 brown. 4000 rainbow; Mangaone, 14,000 brown. 2000 rainbow; Rangitikci. 9000 iirown, 7000 rainbow; Coal Creek, 15,000 brown, 4000 rainbow; Kawatau. 1000 brown, 1000 rainbow. A number of perch were placed in dams at Taomii, Mount Stewart. Kiwitea, Makino, and Feilding, and appear to have done well. The Society have thought it expedient not to stock further with perch, owing to dams overflowing, and thereby allowing the perch, which are very destructive to trout, to get into the streams. Splendid baskets of fish are- being obtained .li-oni all the streams in the district this season. As the halfyearly licenses will be issued from December 20, intending anglers may look forward to good sport thiring the holidays.
