FJBILDING DAY ON DECEMBER 7

MEETING OF COMMITTEE LAST NIGHT.

A meeting of the committee for the Boy Scouts' Field Day and Sports Meeting was held in Mr" J. 11. Perry's office last night. Present: Mr E. Goodbehere (Chairmon), J. Perry, F. Billman, W. F. Bramwell, D. Pryde, E. H. Fisher, 'G. Fitzpatrek," T. Watson, Dr. "Willis, and the secretary (Mr W. 11. Walker). The Chairman reported that he had received a letter from the Governor stating his Excellency would be pleased to attend the meeting. He was unable to state the time he would reach Feilding. Letters, were received from Wellington, Wa.nganiu, I'ahnerston North, expressing willingness to send scouts to the meeting. It was also suggested that the Minister , of Railways should be approched with a view to securing free passes for scouts and scoutmasters attending the meeting. The secretary reported he had written to the District Traffic Manager at Wangaiiui with regard to obtaining free passes; but had received no reply.

From the Defence Department, a letter stated that tents could be obtained at the usual terms.

Mr Bramwell proposed that the secretary write to Messrs D. H. Guthrio and J. Hogan, Ms.P., asking their co-operation in getting free passes, and that the Chairman interview Mr Guthrio.

The ■"Waiiijsanui' scouts offered to give an exhibition, of bridge' building, ambulance work, knot-tying, etc. The offer was accepted. It was arranged that if time permitted the visiting and local scoutmasters should,' meet and discuss any matters of -mutual interest. The secretary was instructed to inform the Mounted' Rifles that - the Governor would be present, and asking them to form- a gyard of honour for his Excellency. On tile motion of Mr Fisher and Dr. Willis, it was decided to offer the right to provide the afternoon Feilding branch of the W.L.i.1),, and a, sub-committee comprising Messrs Fisher, Perry, and the secretary was set up to meet the members of the Union and make arrangements.

Instructions were given to order the medals and get the trophies together, and the local scoutmasters were asked to allot the trophies. The secretary was authorised to advertise the sports meeting. The meeting then closed.
