A group of 134 members of the House of Commons, including Messrs Barnes, Burns, Bylee, Keir Hardie, Mond, and Snow<len, have sent a memorial to the Cabinet expressing gratitude for the Budget of 1909-10, and ui-ffing the Government to hasten on land valuation. They suggest that valuation should be made accessible to the public, and also that local bodies should be empowered to jrate upon that basis. The land tax, m their opinion, should be applied to the pavmenti and cost of education, poor relief, roads, asylums, and police, and the duties on tea, sugar, and articles of food should be abolished.
