AN EVENT FOR OUR ELECTION NIGHT.
Next Wednesday evening Mr Phil Walsh, the clever Irish-American comedian, appears at the Drill Hall, supported- by a new dramatic company in a sensational American play, entitled -"A Californian Romance," a play that depicts with vivid reality mining life in California during the roaring days of '49, with which period that famous writer, Bret Harte, has made us so familiar. This play tells a story of heart-thrilling interest, pulsating with human passion, and compelling the sympathy, tears, and laughter of the audience. _ The company, strengthened by the addition of five metropolitan artists since its last appearance here, has just concluded a successful season of eight weeks in Auckland, and is now playing overland to Wellington. Seats may be booked at Mr Walker's. The result of the Mayoral contest will he announced from the stage.
