New York, March 21. Bethea, a member of a wealthy family, became crazed with drinking. He was on board a Baltimore-Ohio express train, and taking offence at the. guards, shot Wo of them with a revolver.

Bethea then locked himself in a smoking compartment and fired through the windows at tihe crowd which was attempting to dislodge him! A fire brigade was called out and flooded the compartment with its fire engine, while the police and public returned Bethea's fire.

Bethea wounded others before he died himself, riddled with bullets.
