A NEW ZEALAND LAW CASE.

Sydney, March 6. G. Hay ward has been awarded £300 against the Puponga Coal and Goldmining Company, of New Zealand, for wrongful dismissal. Stay of execution, was granted on a point of law. SEQUEL TO A LIBEL CASE. There lias been another development in the Ronald Harper case. Summonses have been issued against Robert Harper and William Harper,. merchants, AValter Kemp ancL Wil-J liam Brocket, solicitors, Patrick Hilf and John Heatuley, on a charge of conspiring to pervert and defeat the law of justice and to 'unjustly influence the verdict of the jury in favour of the' defendant in the case. WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY. Melbourne, March b\ Sir J ames Mills, of the Union Company, has supplied the postal administration with particulars of the wireless installation on the steamer Manuka. It is understood that one of the tenders for tho proposed wireless stations at Sydney and Fremantle is acceptable. (Received March 7, 9.55 a.m.) FIRE ON A STEAMER. Melbourne, March 7.. Advices have been received tliat tho steamer Clearpooi, bound from Melbourne, wheat laden, put in at Mauritius for coal, after a fire in her bunkers had been extinguished. The damages sustained by the vessel is not stated. THE DAY TRAGEDY. The Day's third child (the baby) its dead. [The reodeuice of Constable Day was destroyed by fire, and Mrs Day and infant perished. It was disover.ed that Mrs Day's throat was cut. The circumstances indicated that the woman, who was in poor health, suddenly became demented, and set fire to the house, cut her throat, and then dashed into the flames. A fire was lit in each of the four rooms. 'A neighbour rescued two little boys who were found screaming near a bed which was on fire. The door was barricaded. He subsequently returned, and endeavoured to rescue the baby, but the flames beat him back.] INSCRIBED STOCK. Adelaide, March 7. The Treasurer has placed locally half a million inscribed stock, ea,rryiug 3j£ per cent, interest. The price after deducting commission was about £3 17s per cent. The flotation will provide loan liabilities to the end of the year. t
