KING LEOPOLD.

DISPOSAL OE HIS PROPERTY

DEBATE JN CHAMBER OF DE

PUTIES

BY ELECTEIO TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT

PER PRESS ASSOCIATION

Brussels, March 5

Princess Louise declares that if her father (the late King Leopold) disposed of property belonging to Belgiurii for the benefit of a third party she would make no claim. She hoped the Government would inform herself and her sister of any property to which the State's right had not been established and to which they would therefore be entitled to succeed.

Herr Vanderveldo, during an interpolation in the Chamber of Deputies, stated that it ha snow been found that King Leopold invested £2,800,----000 in companies directed by men or straw, including a million in Congo bonds. The money was tainted with blood and ought to revert to Belgium to improve the negroes' lot.

The Government admitted that King Leopold hat), deceived them, and states that it would uphold the nation's rights.

Other speakers asserted that £1,----200,000 had disappeared from the Congo Treasury, and that the"books and papers had been destroyed.

Herr De AVoeste paid a tribute to Princess Louise's delicate sense of

honour

A resolution from the Left Party was negatived by 70 to 66, and De AVoeste's motion of confidence in the Government was adopted.
