Hawera, February 9. The Egmont Racing Club's Summer Meeting was favoured with, fine weather for the opening day. There •was a good attendance and the totalisator investments amounted to £6866, as against £7306 for the corresponding flay of J.ast year. There were twelve bookmakers operating. Mying -Handicap. —Clemora .1, North East 2, Sandstream 3. Also ran: Golden Eagle, Koran, Lethean and Nicotine. Won. by half a length. Time, 1.15. Meremere Hack Flat. —Te Roti 1, Rma, 2, Redwing 3. Also van: Mulg,a Bill, Toanga, Timothy, True Shot, Lady Heroine, Contralto, Valentine, Billington. Whana, Miss Park Emblem, Olorinda, Lady Loo, bpeedy Ma"- and Venton. Won by halt a length. Time, 1.3 4-5. Whareroa Hurdles.—Playmate 1, Mit. Cook 2, Reumac 3. Also started, Golden Glow. Won Tjy two lengths. Time, 2.48 3-5. , Ohawe Hack Hurdles.—Maggie Paul 1, Phophet 2, Kauroa 3. Also started: Waione, Anemone, Taoipo, Clemency and Nero. Won by three lengths. Time, 2.46 1-5. Ladies' Purse (Hack). —Waiariki 1, Howler 2, Himitangi 3. Also ran: Master Lethe, Miakahau, Handsome Paul, Beacon, Red Star, Drifibashore. Won by a length. Time, 1.48 2.5. Egmont Cup.—Milan 1, Tiptoe 2, Sir Prize 3. Also ran: Swimming Belt, Bismark and Astraea. Xstraea, Tiptoe and Bismark Jed from a good start. Tiptoe, Sir Prize and Milan' were ahead in the home run, and Milan jumped to the front and won by a head. Time, 2.36.
