THE HIGHWAYMAN AT MYSTERY CREEK. Hamilton, February 10. A gun and a spent cartridge have been found hidden in a hedge adjacent to the spot where the bank manager and t-eller were fired unon at Mystery Creek. There seems little doubt that the attack was premeditated, but there is no sign of the culprit, although other important clues are in the possession of the police.

A BAD BREAK. Auckland, February 10. At about 1.30 o'clock this morning 350 feet of the northern face of the reclamation area at Freeman's Bay, which is part of the wharf extension scheme, collapsed. The damaae is 'estimated at not less than £25,000. - MAN MISSING AT A FIRE. Invorcargill, February 10. The- .Railway Hotel at Winton was completely destroyed ,by fire .at 6 o'clock this morning. Thos. Mclneniey is supposed to have been burnt to death.
