A CONFERENCE ON GROUNDS. Tho Old Boys and Palmerstou senior teams had a practice match at Palmerston on Saturday, but the muster was very poor and the form displayed below par. Those strenuous players the four Carrolls travelled thirty-two miles to make a game, but their good example was not generally emulated J. Hughes and the four Carrolls have decided to play for the Feilding senior team. The Feilding seniors will be selected from the following: Hughes, L. J. Pirani, Trevena, Harding, Price, Shannon, Kivell, Fraser, McLean, Carrolls (4), Ongley, Reid, Whisker, Ryan, Mexted, and McNae. A conference between representatives of tho Manawatu Rugby Union (Messrs Fred. Pirani, President, H. FT Gibbons, Vice-President, J. Manning, and T. Stubbs, secretary) and the Ground Committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association was held at Palmerston on "Saturday. The Union's proposals comprised a reduction in the charge for cup matches to 20 per cent., the use of (three grounds on Saturdays' and one on Wednesday, permission to practice on any day after 4 o'clock, the use of part of the machinery hall for four nights a week for practice, and all work on the ground —such as filling up the water-jump, etc. —to be done by the association. The committee will report to the general committee. There appeared to be a strong tendency to meet the footballers as much as possible. The third-class players of the Feilding Football Club are reminded of the meeting for members and intending members at Messrs Ongley and Kelly's office this evening Mr W. Wallace acted as referee in the Oriental-Poneke football match in Wellington on Saturday.
