TABLE FLAT.

[OUB OWN COBBEBPONDENT.I The school ch!TdT«n of Table Flat held their annual picnic on Wednesday, 17th March, in Mr Say ward a paddock, which had been kindly tot tor the occasion. The harvests are pretty well over here now, and on© and all 6eem to have good returns. The hay harvest has been exceptionally good, and farmers generally have taken advantage of the luxurious growth of grass to store up plenty or winter feed. The grass-seed harvest has not been quite as good as last year; the rain came on at a very bad time just when the seed was cut, and then the caterpillars got to work and finished what the rain had left. However, enough for looal requirements has been saved. The oat harvest, of which there was a considerable area, was suited with the best of weather, and a'U the crops ■have been got in, in fine order and condition. The Table Flat creamery is going I on finely, and suppliers all sown 10 be well satisfied with their returns. Mr A. V. Venables has sold his farm here to Mr Sayward for the satisfactory figure of £10 per acre. Mr Sayward has now taken up his residence on Table Flat. I hear that Mr Banks has closed down his sawmilling plant, owing to the scarcity of orders. This throws a few more men on the labour market. Feed is very plentiful} here at present; in fact, the difficulty is to keep it down. Several paddocks of swede turnips are also doing well. Most of those farmers who felled bush last winter have burned, and good burns are the order of the day. Some have also fine crops of turnips on the burns. Taken all round, the stock 6hould have a good time this winter.
