SEVEN DREADNOUGHTS. COMPARISONS OF COST. [by electric telegraph — copyright.) [per press association.] London, March 16. Official figures sow that the battleship Vanguard cost £1,624,878, or at the rate of £84 per ton, compared with the Dreadnought at £100 and the King Edward VII. £89, the latest French battleship costing £114, and * the German £101. The House of Commons Navy Committee, including Liberaft- Imperialists and Conservatives, resolved that 6even Dreadnoughts would be necessary during the coming year, another to be added if necessary, and that the postponement of the building of four would place an undue strain on the 1910-11 programme. The Reduction of Armament Committee resolved that any increase in the Navy estimates would be inexpedient.
