The Feilding Star, Oroua and Kiwltea Counties Gazette TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 1909. Advance Apiti.
Apiti may be away back on the edge of Nowhere, from the point of view of the dweller in the city ; it may even be looked' upon by tho Feilding resident as being under the shadow of Ngauruhoe, the ashes of which were spread upon its rooftrees last, week — but it is now as modern even as Wellington or FeilHing. For Apiti has a Chamber of Commerce., Apparently the business men of Apiti thought that the development of the district warranted an institution that would bring them into closer touch regarding matters of common interest. There is no doubt that even at Apiti the dommunity generally will find the Chamber a very useful institution, if it is used wisely and weW ; . A Chamber of Commerce is an educational institution, at which men who are beginners in business learn much from those who have grown grey and experienced. Agricultural and pastoral affaire are of primary importance out
Apiti way, and therefore the farming portion of the community should see that it is well represented on the new Chamber This can be done by joining that body, and by attendance at its meetings. By combination, settlers and those who are dependent upon the success of settlement can achieve much, and the Apiti Chamber of Commerce has great possibilities as a means of promoting enterprise, and looking after the interests of a well-dowered: district.
