Sir Christopher Furness, speaking at Hartlepool, said that the threats and inuendoes of certain of the Labour leaders were the chief cause of unemployment. He believed that ( the workers now saw how grievously misguided they had been ; but it was too late, as the tradfe had left the coast. I (Received March 16, 8.30 a.m.) ; London, March 15. Since August the Hon. John Burns, President of the Local Government jjoard, has authorised 569 loans, amounting to £2,708,660, for unemployment works by locail bodies.
