» - [per press association.] FIRE BRIGADES. I Auckland, March 8. The thirtieth annual conference^ of the United Fire Brigade Association opened to-day, 101 delegates attending. President Wildish regretted that so few brigades had taken advantage of the legisllation for *he consti- "- tution of Fire Boards. This he be- " lieved to be chiefly due to brigades not having fully understood the legis- , lat ion. They had had conplainte that the insurance companies were not contributing towards fire brigade maintenance, and here they had a system which made it compulsory on them to contribute. He trusted delegates would return to their brigades charged with information that would enable them to act. CONCILIATION! 'Auckland, March 8.
