Barnes (Zukertort'a >open-ing).-Mason, who was figjhtmg against time, through unduly prolonged deliberation lost two bishops tor a rook; but with the compensation of a'passed pawn on queen's side later. Barnes forced his opponent to exchange rook for bisnop, and won on the nfty-fourth move. Forsyfch v. Dodds (king's bishop gambit).-Dodds, departing from bok lines, lost a rook for a bishop on the Bth move. played with precision, and won on the 4ytn move. „1.1 ■ Fox v. Davies (two knights defence).— X ox's fifth move was very weak, and he further lost a knight on tine 12th move. By an oversight six moves later he lost «. bishop for a pawn, and subsequently resigned on the 32nd move. i m T . Grierson v. Edwards (Ruy Lopez). —Edwards prematurefy commenced a king's side attack and his position became cramped, which fleiccssitated the sacrifice of a pawn to secure freedom. Grierson exchanged queens, getting another pawn, and won on the 33rd move. Kellingi * bye. The: adjourned games were tnen P Selling v.
