General Torres, with 500 followers, resisted /tiho landing of General Gomez's officials at Macura, from the gunboat Miranda. After lour hours' fighting the gunboat withdrew, but Torres fled to Port of Spain (Trinidad), declaring that the oads were *oo heavy for rurther resistance. Twenty were killed while fighting.
