The beef market is depressed, and the supply . exceeds the demand. There is no change in prices. The butter market is dull, New Zealand selling at 100s. The cheese market is steady, with an improved demand, the price of New Zealand being 58s. The hemp market is dull, and there is no change in prices. The Manila output for the week was 20,000 bales. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., re.port on their Palmerston sale of last Thursday: — We had a fair entry of sheep, all of which sold under the hammer, and a good yarding of cattle. We quote: Ewes and lambs 13s 6d, forward empty ewes 8s 6d to 9s Id ; fat ewes 10s Id to 10s 3d, mixed 2-tooths 10b, fat lambs 10s lOd to 11s 2d; 34-yr bullocks £5 10s to £5 15s 6d, 2 and 2j-yr steers to £2 17s, 18 mos steers 39s 6d, empty 2 .to 3 year forward heifers £3 ss, store cows 33s 6d, cows in milk £2 2s 6d to £3, empty 15 months heifers 30s to 37s 6d.
