SECOND DAY. Glorious weather prevailed on Saturday, and the attendance was very large. Some good racing was witnessed, many of the finishes being very exciting. Results;— Kelvin Hack Hurdles, of 100 soys., l^miles.— Yosami, 9.8 (A. McConmon), 1: Commander, 11.9 (l'< Pine), 2; Don Carlos,lo.9, and Mikotaihi, 9.13, also started but fell. VVon easily by three lengths. Time, 3.21 1-dth. Tararua Hack Welter Handicap, of 100 soys, 7 furlongs.— Roosevelt, 9.0, (S. Reid), lj Osiris, 8.6 (W. Ryan), 2; Gold Treasure, 8.11 (A. Rae), 3. Also started: Esparto 8.10, iiingot 8.10, Shannon Lass 8.9, Courier 8.5, v/indage 8.0, Bercola 7.10. A spleadid finish ended in Roosevelt catching Osiris on the post and winning by a head. Time, 1.29 4-6ths. /Manawatu Cop, of 650 soys, H miles.— Mr D. Buick's Tangimoana,----8.0 (S. Reid), 1; Blue Ribbon, 6.7 (H. Batten), 2; Apa, 8.11 (A. OEver), 3. Also started : Xopu 8.3", Bourrasque 7.13, Muakerry 7.13, Glenoullloch 7.12, Molooh 7.11, Riliemaid 7.3, White Lie 6.13. Arclight. 6.13, Truganini 6.12, Oanssima 6.7. A pretty race, and a great finish, necks separating the placed horses. Time, 2.36 l-stk Tokomaru Hurdles, of 130 sove, 1| miles.— Aorangi, 11.6 (H. Cairns), 1; Tondergbie. 9.0 (J. Stewart), 2j Goldl^^CJ/O^ConneU),^ Al•ostarted: Paparaehi 10.6, Proepeotor, 10.3, Haeremai 9.0." Won easily by several lengths. Time, 3.17 2-sths. Fitzherbert Handicap, of 250 soys, 6 furlongs.— Ballarat, 7.10 (G. Price), lj Rangipapa, 9.2 (S. Reid), 2j Tumut, 7.13 (R. King), 3. Also started: Gold Thread 9.0, Mon Ami 7.13, Moriarty 7.13, Golden Eagle 7.10, Advantage 6.7. Ballarat took the lead four furlongs from home and was never afterwards troubled, winning by two lengths. Time, 2.14 l-sth. Gillies' Hack Handicap, of 100 soys, 6 furlongs.— Longner, 8.10 (M. GampBell), 1; Perolina, 8.6 (B. Lowe), 2j Contour, 8.2 (W. Price),- 3.
