CHELTENHAM FANCY FAIR.

The Clielltenhani Fancy Fair, held last Thursday, proved to be a 'huge 1 success. Owing to the heavy rain the day before and. the high wind on Thursday morning, the Fair had to be held in the Hail, instead of in Mrs Bruee's garden, as had been originally intended. The attendance during the afternoon and evening was large, and all the stall-holders were kept busy the whole day. The ten stalls were abundantly laden and, indeed, the Halll proved all too small to permit of the articles being displayed to the best advantage. It is a matter of regret that many of the foreign articles did not arrive in time for the bazaar, but they will I>e for sale at the Garden Feto to be lield at Kiwitea after Christmas. In spite of ttat, however, there was a very attractive display on the foreign stall, India, Japan, China, Barbadoes, Melanesia, and Teneriffe being represented, and good- busines was dono. The Christmas tree was laden with toys, and was a centre of attraction for the youngsters, and indeed all the stalls' ■were so welt! patronised that it Ts i hard to particularise. A number of competitions and entertainments tooE place during the day. and "brought in a large sum of money. The Punch" and Jaidy Show was undoubtedly the greatest success ; during the day four performances were given in a side Toom, and nearly £5 was taken, principally in threepenny pieces. Many children attended every performance, and there were several adults who fliso paid 1 more than one visit to the show.
