FEILDING FIRF BOAKD.

The statutory meeting of the Feild- j ing Fire Board was held yesterday. Present, Messrs Fred. Pirani (chair- I man), It. M. Simpson, H. Tolley, J. W. B. Trewin. The Chairman reported that tlie receipts were £277 4s Id, and tho expenditure £73 16s 3d. A report was read from the Superintendent (Mr Saywell) to the effect that the members were working well together. He suggested that the Board should get a hose cart for use with a horse at a cost of £30, and fchab some arrangement should be made with tho stables to provide a horse for it. The question was raised of boots, trousers and uniforms for the men, and a list of material required was given. The attendance of each member of the Brigade at practice and fires was given, and the desirability suggested of striking some of the names off the roll. Tlie following letters were received:— . From the Treasury, asking for name of the Board's Bank, and forwarding three-quarters' subsidy (£22 10s). From Minister of Internal Affairs Department, approving of estimates. From same, notifying appointment of Mr Mallard, in succession to Mr Allen, resigned. From manager, Bank of New Zealand, consenting to Board opening account. From Feilding Borough Council, offering lease of station at £20 a year. — Offer accepted. From secretary, Fire Brigade, re expense of sending delegate to Conference, asking for six months' leave for a fireman, and giving a list of members who had attended fires. — Leave granted, fire attendance to he paid for, and expenses of delegate to be- paid if legal. From Feilding Fire Police, suggest, ing that, the Borough should be divided into fonr wards, and that a shed and hose-reel should be placed in each.— Referred to Superintendent •for report. On Mr Simpson's motion, it was > decided that the Superintendent be asked to furnish the cost ;> in detail, of the articles mentioned in his list. It was decided to ask the Superintendent to prepare specifications of a hose cart, and to empower the Chairman to invite tenders for the curt. It was decided to hold the next meeting in May. The following accounts were passed for payment : —Superintendent, haltyear, £20; Deputy-Superintendent, half-year, £10; rent, £20; firemen, £10; boot allowance, £10; printing. 9s 6d: cartage, los; telephone, £2 ss; repairs to hydrant, 4s 6cl.
