FEILDING FOOTBALL CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. Following is the annual report of the Feilding Football Club, to be presented at tho annual meeting, to be hold to-night in Messrs Ongley and Kellv's office : — Gentlemen, — In presenting their annual report, your oommitte have very much pleasure in congratulating members upon the marked revival of interest in football in Feilding and district. Not for many years havo we had so many matches played in the town. Shield Matches. — The 1 club entered teams in all three classes for the M.R.F.U. competitions. The Senior team was successful in carrying off tho championship, going through its list of fixtures without meeting with a reverse, a result due in no small measure to the skilful leadership of its captain, Mr A. M. Ongley. The Third fifteen also had a successful season, being just beaten for the championship in its class by the High School team. The Second fifteen was not quite so successful. Owing to departures from the town and the greater amount of travelling expected from teams in this class, it became rather disorganised, and finished the season somewhat low on the list. Several second team members appeared in tho Senior fifteen during the season, and from the quality of their play it may be safely anticipated that the First fifteen will be quite up to last year's standard. Abraham" Cup. — Two teams were entered for the Abraham Cup, but the Junior team failed to fulfil its engagements. The Senior team reached the final, but, on a wet and muddy ground waa beaten by Kia jToa. ' j Groxinds. — Last season the club had tlie use of a couple of grounds on the Racercur-o, k:nuly placed at their disposal by the Jockey Club. Though a big improvement on the Oval, they were unfortunately often far too wet to allow of high-class football being played. Social. — At the end of the season a very successful social was held, at which* trophies were presented to Messrs Onglov, D. Whisker, and Trevena of tho First fifteen, and Mr F. Thompson of the Second fifteen. Training Hall*— That it is impossible to play good football unless thoroughly fit is such a well-known fact that it is a matter for regret thatjl our club has no facilities for training other than the stables in town. At the social the question of a training hall or gymnasium was suggested. Beyond getting a little information as to the probable cost, nothing has been done, and it is proposed to set up a committee to consider the whole question. Easter Matches. — A match has been arranged for the Second fifteen with a team of juniors from Eltham, and an invitation has been sent to the Pirate Football Club, the champion team of Wanganui, to meet our Seniors here on Easter Saturday. Conclusion.— The visit of the British football team will give a great impetus to football throughout the dominion, so that a busy season may be expected. ~ft therefore behoves every member to do his utmost to advance the interests of his club and in every sense to "play the game." / "— — — — —■»-■
